Here you will find the wild places of Western Sicily located in the province of Agrigento. You can immerse yourself in the still wild nature along paths, ancient villages, natural reserves and ancient Sicilian cities to discover. This way you will have the chance to find out their stories, art, culture and to taste the typical products of these places.

Day 1

1. Arrival day at Palermo, Trapani o Catania airport. Accommodation in Hotel or Residence.

Day 2

You will visit Sciacca which is one of the oldest cities in Sicily. Firt you will get to the Cathedral (Chiesa Madre), then you will go to the famous Piazza Angelo Scandaliato and then you will arrive at the Steripinto Palace and the Historic Porta Palermo. Eventually you will visit the ancient streets in the historic city centre. Lunch break: you can enjoy the typical local cuisine. After lunch you will visit the fish market and the Cave of the Loader, a warehouse where grain was stored before being loaded into the ships. Then you will visit the Luna Castle dating back to 1300 and the Hermitage of San Calogero, a religious place dating back to 1530. Finally you will visit the Enchanted Castle with its handmade rock sculptures.

Day 3

You will visit Borgo Bon Signore (Municipality of Ribera). It is a small ancient village which was one of the fiefs of the Duchy of Bivona. The characteristic of this area is the unspoilt coast with beaches surrounded by nature, where you can admire the natural trails of the place. Then you will go through the local nature reserve in order to reach the mouth of Platani River and its enchanting beach. Eventually you will arrive to Eraclea Minoa, It is an ancient Greek city in south-western Sicily where there is an ancient Greek theatre..

Day 4

Quad bike tour of the ruins of Poggio Diana Castle to Ribera The castle was built in the twelfth century by the Normans. It is located on a rocky spur dominating the valley of Verdura River. Then you will visit the wolf gorges by quad bike. The gorges had been excavated by Verdura River in a natural way. It is a fascinating place for those who love unspoilt nature because it is surrounded by citrus groves and orchards. Eventually you will taste the local food..

Day 5

You will visit the imposing Valley of the Temples in Agrigento It is one of the most suggestive archaeological sites in Sicily where you can admire the famous Temple of Juno, the Temple of Concordia and the Temples of Zeus and Pollux (optional entrance, not included). After visiting the temples, you will get to the historical centre of Agrigento, where you can walk through the Main Street of the City and go shopping. Then, panoramic visit of the Scala dei Turchi.

Day 6

Visit to Caltabellota village of very ancient origins II century BC. Suggestive town of 7000 inhabitants which rises on the ridge of a high rocky spur (950 m.). At the the top of which stands the Norman castle known as the Sibilla. One of the most beautiful viewpoints in the province, from the cliff you can see the southern Sicilian coast from Marsala to Agrigento and from the opposite side the Verdura valley. You will visit enchanting places, such as the ruins of the castle which is accessed by climbing a staircase carved into the rock, built on a hill 200 meters high 12th century, continuing you will visit the Sicane Necropolis, to continue visiting the Hermitage of San Pellegrino which was the residence until the death of the bishop Santo, who, according to a widespread tradition, freed the city from the dragon that ate human flesh. The sanctuary consists of two caves, a monastery and a church. And finally, the visit of the ancient churches such as the Church of Sant’Agostino, the Mother Church of 1330 located in a position where you can admire the green valley, and finally the Church of the Carmine located in the city center.

Day 7

Free day (you can go on boat to see the whole coast of Sciacca and nearby places).

Day 8

Transfer to the airport for the return flight.
